Devlog #7
11/30/2024
Okay, let's face it, the "Daily" devlogs were not going to happen consistently. Throw that concept out the window! XD It just turns out that after a hard days work IRL and catching p with my gachas and working on the game, that I just don't have it in me to come up with a devlog at 1:00am in the morning. Let's try to do Devlogs when absolutely appropriate, know what I mean?
So what is new? Well, we are EXTREMELY close completing a trailer and Demo to release for our first game. That's right, "The Project G Incident - Tape 1 Demo" will soon be available for everyone to try out. I'm pretty confident in the lack of bugs, but there is ALWAYS room for improvement, and room for things to just slip through the cracks. What I tried to fix for the demo were issues that players could run into by breaking the flow of gameplay. or instance - you enter the Studio and suddenly decide to walk backgrounds and LOCKING yourself in the annex. Naughty naughty naughty. One that happened randomly was that the music would stop and it would not come back again. This is because the Zig-Zig blueprint module got confused... somehow.
I've played through the demo again and again, and I even had a tester who was kind enough to lay down some hard facts about the game so far. One thing that I really had to contend with was the idea of "speed running" the game. This was definitely something I had in mind early in development. After all, who doesn't like to speed run a game for the best time? And I really thought I could include something like that. Unfortunately, it just isn't possible to implement at this stage of the project. This is a narrative driven game, and there's too many pauses for dialogue and events that need to happen at their own pace.
The idea of a "Skip" dialogue or event feature was tossed around a bit, but it came down to the dialogue system. It's fairly simplistic, with a slight modification to make some dialogue scenes move along automatically. A "skip" feature just isn't possible with the current system. There will be more games to come, and I promise, I will take this into account for the next title in the series.

It all started in 1954. The person in the Gojira suit was unknown at the time...
