Daily Devlog #1

First Devlog!

I'll have to figure out the format for this as I go along. I'm hoping to make devlogs a regular thing, as I have rarely done them before. Keeping track of my time in "Development Mode" doesn't come naturally to me. I just... work. XD

After catching up with all my gachas, I settled in to work on the game. My list of tasks includes fixing some annoying bugs and continuing to decorate the Tutorial Stage. While I feel that it has enough, I keep looking around and feeling it could have a little more density. Not too much, but just enough to make the space feel lived in. What I'm really missing are pictures frames, and posters on the walls. It's a pet peeve of mine to see a room with walls that are sparsely decorated.

I got sidetracked though. I opened up Krita to work on something that I just thought of updating a day ago: the jumpscare. I have an animation that I THOUGHT would be enough to replace the placeholder I have in the sequence. However, after all these months of seeing that placeholder, I can't imagine the sequence feeling complete without it. I wanted to replace it thought, because it's technically an image that spoils the story. It needed to change... so I came up with a sequence of my own. Attached it to the audio, made a video clip and I am pretty much satisfied with the result. Bein inside Krita, I also decided to update two images that needed to be different for the final game. Well... one if I decide to drop the other one.

It's good progress, but it inevitably took me away from Unreal and I ultimately decided not to open the game tonight. First thing tomorrow I will replace and troubleshoot the new video and images I made tonight, and once they are in, it's back to bug fixing and decorating.
