Welcome to the Itch.io page for TakaNeko Gaming, an indie game development studio based out of Florida. The studio was founded in early 2024 and is only starting to take its first steps into the gaming industry. Headed by a single developer taking on multiple roles in game development, TakaNeko Gaming (TKNG), is set to release their first game in December 2024.
This page is meant to act as a brief introduction to TKNG, its developer, their vision, and goals for the future of our studio. We look forward to seeing our audience expand in 2025, and welcome everyone to become a part of the future NekoManiac* fandom!
*Work in Progress >_<
TakaNeko Gaming is the brain-child of Takano Miyashi, an amateur game developer learning Unreal Engine 5. After dedicating 2024 as "The Year of TakaNeko Gaming", Takano set out to learn the basics of UE5 and Blender to make his first game, something to help TKNG break into the gaming scene and kickstart the development of future titles. With only a few hours a day to dedicate to learning game development, TKNG began to conceptualize a list of games with potential to be "The First Game". The initial list of games in pre-production started four games based on different genres:
TKNG was originally meant to specialize in 2D platformers, seeing them as the "easy" option which would compliment Takano's past experience as an artist. However, the games conceptualized to be designed as 2D platformers were too ambitious and better suited for a developer with more experience.
Choosing to focus on 3D game tutorials, TKNG started to lean toward making a 3D first-person horror. The foundation of this game would be based on simple tasks and at least one enemy that the player would need to escape in order to finish the game. The model for the monster would need to be made in Blender, and with no experience, it was another challenge to add to the game's timeline.
The simple nature of the game would be based on the idea the "The First Game" could not be too long or complex - developing and shipping "The First Game" no matter how big or small would be the first step to establish TKNG as an official indie game studio.
Our mission is to make games that combine niche concepts with mainstream appeal. These are the kind of games that may seem too "out there" to play, but you can't fake that kind of passion and dedication to the craft. We are dedicated to making games our audience can enjoy, based on unique concepts that can't be found anywhere else.
"Of Service for Gamers"
Based on the concept of being of service to others, the TKNG slogan draws on the studio's desire to produce games that gamers can enjoy from the opening screen to the end credits. When playing our games, we want our audience to feel like they benefited from their time spent - no game should ever be a waste of time. It is our duty to provide outstanding service for gamers through the games we produce.
This is what we hope to be our biggest achievement within the first five years of game development. The Big Score is:
Have one of our games nominated at The Game Awards.
